Membership in Insurance Professionals of Greater Kansas City and the National Association of Insurance Women offers a number of benefits for insurance professionals and their employers.

Education

One of the most important benefits from belonging to IPGKC or NAIW is the educational opportunities available to their members.  NAIW offers a variety of education programs for professional development and continuing education, such as Underwriting for Non-underwriters, Mentors and Proteges, and Time Management to name a few.  At our monthly meetings guest speakers provide our members with new and topical information that can have an impact on you individually or on the insurance industry as a whole.  Past topics have included the Graham-Leach-Bliley Act and upcoming model NAIC laws.  The NAIW Education Foundation offers members scholarships to complete professional designation studies or college degrees in insurance or risk management related fields.

Communicate with Confidence

One of the recognized educational programs for the CPIW/CPIM designation, it is one of the most popular educational programs offered for our members.   Communicate with Confidence is a program developed to help the students better organize and present their thoughts, overcome stage fright when faced with public speaking, understand proper microphone etiquette, and prepare and deliver   presentation.  The students at the end of the five to ten week class period prepare and deliver a 3-minute speech on insurance or NAIW membership topics to their local organization.  The selected speaker then goes on to present and compete in a "speak-off" at the State level and possibly above.  Even if your position doesn't require you to speak in front of customers, skills learned in this course can help you with telephone conversations and allow you to present yourself in a more concise, organized and professional manner.

Networking

Insurance Professionals of Greater Kansas City and NAIW offer its members an international network of insurance professionals and colleagues in all lines of insurance who can assist you.  If you need a position, networking offers you employment opportunities.  If you need to fill a position networking provides you with just the right person for that job.  If you need an agent in a distant state to counter-sign a policy for you, contact one of your fellow members in that state.   These are some of the professional benefits networking will provide you.  But networking on a personal level will offer you some of the greatest friendships with other insurance professionals in your area, across the country or even the world.
